Arrival/Dismissal - Parking Lot Information

We would like to thank everyone for their support during arrival and dismissal. We understand that there are our parking lot is extremely busy, but with our procedures in place, our parking lot does clear of lines within 12 minutes. Please help us do this by following the directions of our traffic support personnel. Our traffic support does keep open areas of the parking lot for the safety of cars and students. Please do not park in fire lanes. The only fire lane that is open for traffic pick up is the bus lane. We do only have one bus that picks up students, so we do have that lane open once the bus has arrived. Left turns into the parking lot for vehicles traveling East on Melrose Way are not allowed during dismissal time.  This allows for the traffic to flow from the parking lot to the corner light.

Please remember that there are three open lanes through the parking lot and that students should wait in one of the three areas adjacent to each lane. Lane one is the lane closest to the school and is also used for our one bus. This first lane will be closed until the bus has entered the lane. Once the bus has entered the lane and pulled forward, parents are welcome to enter the first lane to pick up students. There will be a crossing guard in each lane, and students should wait in one of three areas. If you are using the first lane, your child will line up against the fence. Parents using the center lane will pick up their students in the center fenced area. Parents wishing to use the upper parking lot will be able to pick up their students from the upper square fenced area. As parents exit the parking lot, the right lane will exit to the right and the left lane will exit to the left.  We also ask for all parents and students to use the crosswalk at the stop light and not cross the street directly in front of the school. We will have stop signs and a crosswalk at the entrance of the school soon. You will receive more information on changes to arrival and dismissal at that time.

For vehicles that are using South Melrose Dr and Melrose Way, please be courteous to our students that are crossing the street at the light and to other drivers on the road so as not to block the intersection.  If you have any questions, suggestions or concerns regarding the arrival or dismissal procedures, please contact us.

Parent Portal Accounts are required this year

All families will need to utilize a parent portal account this year. Start of the year packets are now accessible online through a parent portal account. Once you have created a parent portal account, you must complete the "Data Confirmation" section under the student information page. This will allow you to print out a student emergency card instead of completing it by hand. All students must have the "Data Confirmation" section completed.  arent portal information for creating an account at home can be accessed by clicking here

About Breeze Hill

Breeze Hill Elementary School opened in 1992 in southern Vista with a vision of setting the highest possible academic and personal expectations for students. The goal of educators there is for each student to experience a sense of pride through positive accomplishments, mastery of grade-level standards, and development of valuable relationships as we prepare them for a successful future in the 21st century. The school was awarded the California Distinguished School Award in 2000 and 2004.

The school staff works collaboratively with families to ensure a strong community connection. Parents participate in a variety of ways, including through the PTA, School Site Council, English Learner Advisory Committee and by volunteering in the classroom. Throughout the year the PTA raises money and hosts events which help strengthen the programs and community at the school. Some of these events include the annual fall carnival, family movie nights, book fair and literacy night, school talent show and Jog-a-Thon.

The Breeze Hill school community takes pride in the numerous opportunities provided for students.  The Breeze Hill Garden Learning Center has been recognized by the National Wildlife Foundation as a “Schoolyard Habitat” and by MonarchWatch.org as a Monarch Butterfly Waystation.  Our garden is a valuable and scenic venue for teaching students about the wonders of our natural environment, as well as the life cycles of native flora and fauna.

Breeze Hill serves a diverse population of 780 students in kindergarten through fifth grade.  There are 33 classroom teachers, and a number of certificated staff who work collaboratively to educate all students. Staff members are role models of courtesy, respect, hard work, and personal achievement.

Smarter Balanced Assessment: English and Math

In schools across the country, teachers are implementing new academic standards that provide consistent guidelines in English and math at each grade level and help prepare students to graduate high school ready for college and the workplace. These new benchmarks challenge students to develop a deeper understanding of subject matter, learn how to think critically, and apply what they are learning to the real world.

To help parents, teachers, and school leaders know whether students are on the path to success, states joined together to develop improved tests of student achievement. The Smarter Balanced assessments will replace existing tests in English and math for grades 3-8 and high school in the 2014-15 school year. Administered online, these new assessments will adapt to each student’s ability, giving teachers and parents better information to help students succeed.

Please follow the links below to find out more about the assessments students in grades 3-5 will be taking soon.
