2016-2017 Back to School Message

Hello students and families!

It is my pleasure to teach 4th grade at Breeze Hill Elementary for the 2016-2017 school year. School wide implementation of Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Response to Intervention (RTI), Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS), and AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination), the upcoming school year is undoubtedly going to be a successful and enjoyable school year!

Students will be provided with research-based instruction and rigorous tasks in all core subjects. Also, students will be required to use 21st Century Skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication. Students will have opportunities to apply strategies and skills in cross curricular projects and assignments.

Students are encouraged to adopt a growth mindset (Carol Dweck) in their approach to learning, both in and outside the classroom. Students will learn that their achievement depends on their effort and perseverance, rather than innate ability.

In 4th grade, all students will be provided a device to use within the classroom for academic purposes. Students will be completing many assignments, tests, and projects using their Chromebooks and will be trained on how to use the technology respectfully. With the start of the AVID program on campus in both 4th and 5th grade, students will also learn how to keep an organized binder.

Important changes: Please visit the Breeze Hill website for updates about Parent Portals and changes in the bell schedule. School will begin at 8:00 and end at 2:18 on regular days and minimum day Mondays.

Back to School Night will be held from 6-7pm on Thursday, August 25th.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you and for the start of the school year. Thank you for taking the time to look over the class website and please contact me via email for additional questions.
